Meet the Founder

Grateful Synergies was founded in 2018 by Darlene, a SHRM-certified HR leader with more than 25 years of experience building people operations for organizations of every size. Throughout her career, she has built HR departments from the ground up, written and modernized employee handbooks, led compliance and I-9 audits, implemented HR technology platforms, and guided multi-state employers through the complexities of federal and state employment law.

Darlene has extensive experience creating scalable HR infrastructures that support organizational growth, from developing policies and procedures to implementing HRIS and payroll systems, benefits programs, recruiting strategies, and compliance initiatives. She understands what it takes to establish a strong HR foundation that aligns with business objectives while supporting employees at every stage of the employee lifecycle.

In addition to her consulting work, Darlene serves as an instructor for the SHRM Certification Exam Prep Course at a local university, helping HR professionals prepare for and earn their SHRM-CP and SHRM-SCP certifications. She is passionate about developing HR talent and advancing the profession through education, mentorship, and practical application.

As a disabled-veteran-owned and woman-owned business, Grateful Synergies brings a mission-driven approach and a bias for action to every engagement. Darlene has seen firsthand how the wrong hire, an outdated policy, or a missing document can put a growing company at risk, and how the right HR foundation empowers leaders to focus on growing their business and supporting their people.

Today, she works one-on-one with employers throughout New Jersey, including Ocean, Monmouth, Middlesex, Somerset, Union, and surrounding counties, offering the kind of personalized, hands-on service that large HR agencies simply cannot match.
